Byrne Family Genealogy Forum

I am researching an ancestor, James H. Byrne. We have information that he was in the 13th Hussars, The Durham Light Infantry as a trooper. We have had a family story handed down through the generations that says he was once a guard for the Queen and rode on horseback. At some point, he was transferred to Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He and his wife, Ellen (aka: Eleanor Craig) Byrne had six daughters in Manchester, England and a seventh child once they moved to Canada. We have one very old photo of James in his uniform and we would love to add any information about him to our family history collection.
Also, regarding his wife was Ellen Craig (aka: Eleanor Craig), family stories say that her mother died in child birth having her and she was raised by her uncle, "Bishop Mead". We can not find any information on this family either. They eloped from Ireland into England and had 6 of their children in Manchester, England.
Thank you in advance for any assistance any one can give us.
