This information and the following was the result of me contacting the Cavan County Genealogical Research Center back in 1998. According to the letter Ellen’s address was given as Killimority which they stated refers to Killymoriarty townland in the parish of Templeport. The children: Francis Berne, born 12th May 1867 sponsor: Michael Berne and Mary Berne Catherine Byrne, born 16th November 1868..sponsor Francis Byrne and Margaret Reilly. Thomas Bernard Byrne, born 27th May 1883 ...sponsor Francis Byrne and Mary Byrne. All are born in Cronary the only one missing is an Ellen listed in the Philadelphia paperwork, the census. The ages vary for the family in the census and records over here . But I also know the information is only as good as the informant....The names all match and so the order of BIRTH. That is why I do not doubt they are the same family. The first son, Francis Joseph Byrne married a Bridget Pryor (Prior) in Philadelphia on 18th of April 1894 and was living in the South Philadelphia area. Francis and Bridget were married at Saint Charles Borromeo Church located at 20th and Christian Streets in the South Philadelphia section of the city. The marriage was conducted by the Rev. J.F. Nagle and the witnesses were a John McTague and Mary Logan. John James Byrne was born on July the 3rd 1895 and was baptized on the 14th of July 1895 at Saint Charles Borromeo Church also by the Rev. J.F. Nagle and the sponsors were Michael Byrne and a Catherine Prior. At the time of the 1900 census they were living at 2254 Dickinson Street and had two children, John James Byrne age (1-3) had died, time unknown. Bridget shows an immigration date of 1888. Francis James Byrne was born on 17 July 1897 and was baptized on the 1st of August 1897 at Saint Charles Borromeo Church at 902 South 20th street (20th and Christian). As a result of contacting the Leitrim Genealogy center in Ballinamore the family of Bridget Prior was found. The details of the family were found in the baptismal registers for the parish of Outeragh and the birth records in the district of Ballinamore. Together we found the following children born to Peter Prior and Mary McParlin/McPartlan. Catherine born 28th of August 1867 Thomas born the 11th of April 1869 James born the 16th of December 1871 Mary Anne born the 2nd of December 1874 Bridget born the 11th of November 1877 Peter born the 2nd of July 1880 Patrick born the 1st of April 1883 John born the 24th of September 1887 On the 30th of September 1904 the SS Baltic docked in New York with the following passengers: John Prior 23, Tom Prior age 24, Kate Prior age 22, Kate Connell age 18 and Mary Prior age 30. All going to sister’s house Mrs. Bridget Byrne of 2254 Dickinson Street in Philadelphia except for Kate Connell. All listed Ballinamore as their town as departure. The SS Baltic had left Queenlands on 22 September 1904 and her Captain was Edward J. Smith, Captain Smith would in 1912 be in charge of the Titanic. The Baltic was a 23,876 gross ton ship built in 1903 by Harland and Wolff of Belfast for the White Star Line. Her details were the following: a length of 709.2 feet, a beam of 75.6 feet, two funnels, four masts, twin screws and a speed of 17 knots. There were accommodations for 425 1st class, 450 2nd class and 2,000 3rd class passengers. She was launched on October 21st 1903 and she sailed from Liverpool on her maiden voyage to New York on the 29th of June 1904. . Charles A. Byrne is born in Philadelphia on 15th of April 1906 and at sometime before the 1910 census the family moved to Chicago IL for reasons unknown at this time. According to personal papers received by me from the family of Francis James Byrne, Bridget died in Chicago on 3rd of November 1912 and was buried on the 6th of November in Mount Carmel Cemetery. At the time of her death the family was living at 3319 West Gladys Avenue in Chicago. The informant was listed as Frank Byrne and stated Bridget had been in the United States 25 years, (1887) that her father was a Pat (Peter) Pryor (Prior) and mother was a Mary McParland (MacPartland) both born in Ireland. Francis Joseph Byrne died on the 1st of January 1919 the result of being struck by a street car in Chicago. He died of his injuries in Cook County Hospital and was buried on the 7th of January 1919 in Mount Carmel cemetery. According to the death certificate he was living at 2410 Lexington Street in Chicago. After the death of Francis the father, the three (3) younger children, Mary, Catherine and Charles were brought back to Philadelphia by other members of the family here. The two (2) older boys, Francis James (Jimmy) and Thomas C. stayed in the Chicago area.
