Wish I had better news for you, but I spent endless hours trying to determind who Mable's Byrd father was, but it's tough to narrow down. There are a few Byrd families living in the area of Graves Co., who had sons that are of the right timeline to have married Etta, but can't be sure yet. On Ancestry Graves Co. is not listed when you seek marriage records as you know. So that makes it harder, can't find a record with them together is what we need.

I'm sure you have this info, but want to point out a few things in our search. So we know your Mable Byrd was born 1900/1901.

1900
Magisterial District 4, Graves Kentucky we have :

George Griffin
Mattie/wife
Larra/dau / Mar 1879
Lennes/dau/ Apr 1881
May Griffin/dau/ May 1885
Gerty/dau/ Aug 1887
Kurble/Ruble/son/ Dec 1889
Corry/dau/ May 1892
Walter/son/ May 1895
Paulene/dau/ Feb 1898
William/son/Father/ Nov 1825

Mattie Griffin is listed as mother of 9 children, 9 living.

We know Etta was born Mar 1883, so which one would be Etta here?

If all nine childrens are living with the Griffin family, Etta was not married yet. So maybe Mable was born in 1901.

Haven't found the in 1920 yet.

1930
Mayfield, Graves, Kentucky

Etta Byrd living with parents, she's 46, born 1883 and Widowed. So has Mable's father passed at this time.

Do you know if Mable's Byrd father stayed in Kentuck after he and Etta divorced?

Need to find 1920 record and maybe that will help.I'm not done. Will get back to you later today.

Glenda
