BYRD/HIGH connection in VA, NC, or TN
I'm trying to determine what the connection was between the BYRD and HIGH (HYE, HIE, HYGH, HEIGH, HOCH, HOKE, HOUK, HOUCK, etc.) families in VA, NC, or TN.My gr gr grandfather's (William HIGH's)descendants named some of their children with the middle name of BYRD.There had to be a connection between those two families somewhere.
William HIGH was born ca 1830/1833 in eithr VA or NC.Census records vary as to his state of birth and year of birth. He was married in October, 1850, in Greene County, TN, to Leana Jane MACE, d/o John MACE and Milla "Millie" Jane WILLIS MACE.
The older of William HIGH's sons, James Nathan HIGH, lived out his life in Scott County, TN.He had lived in Overton County, TN, and Pulaski County, KY, prior to settling in the New River area (near Huntsville)in Scott County.James Nathan HIGH died in Scott County in 1930.James Nathan's younger son, born ca 1880, was named John B. HIGH, and the middle name is believed to have been BYRD.The older of James Nathan HIGH's sons gave the name BYRD as a middle name to one of his sons.
I am descended from James Nathan HIGH's younger brother, John Isham HIGH, who migrated from Jackson County (next to Overton County), TN, to Ozark County, MO, by way of IL in the early-to-mid 1880's.
Can anyone help--please??Thanks for any information or help.
