Byrd, AR>LA>TX, 1850-present
I am searching for information on my great-great grandfather William E. "Bill" Byrd.He was born in Hot Spring County, AR, December 1847.He disappears from the census after 1850 until 1900.There he is a widower with six children living in Malvern, Hot Spring Co., AR.I am told that he was a Texas Ranger for years before his marriage to woman named Miss Paul (who apparently had a good bit of Cherokee blood).
Their children:Agnes Byrd Ramsey (b.1884), Delaney Byrd Taylor (1885-1967), Dethea Byrd (b.1887), Elizabeth "Lizzie" Byrd (b.1888), Minnie Byrd (b.1889), and Jackson Byrd (b.1890).It is believed that Aunt Lizzie lived in Shreveport, LA, unmarried, with the brother of Belle Star, and that the reason the outlaw wasn't apprehended was the intervention of Lizzie's father, Bill Byrd.
