James M. Bynum of AL/ARK/OK
Posted by: carolyn tamblyn (ID *****5606) Date: August 20, 2008 at 13:00:20
  of 1652

The wife of James M. Bynum who was born in Maynard's Cove, Jackson co., AL, was Mary Catherine Proctor, not Martha Catherine Proctor, a mistake that is found in the on-line Jackson co. marriage records. She had a younger sister whose name was Martha Origon Proctor and who married Mathew S. Chandler. They were the daughters of Samuel Forbes Proctor and Margaret A. Donathan (not Donnell), daughter of Rev. Stephen Wilburn Donathan and Isabella Robinson.
This Bynum family, before reaching Indian territory, OK, spent some years in Johnson co., ARK, where the 1870 census lists children Thomas (14), Robert N. (12), Margaret (10), and James F. (8), all born in AL and all in school; Mary E. (6) born in Illinois and also in school, and Jasper L., born in ARK.
