Today I received the following notice from the N. C. Archives. It was in reply to my request for an estate record of Lewis Bynum of Jones County between 1801-1810.

"We have searched Jones County estates without finding Lewis Bynum, various spellings."

Now I have another question. There is much talk of persons named 'Luke' Bynum. Can Luke ever be another name for Lewis?

Thanks, Marie
