Jeannie I didn't ever find the Alfred Bynum family in the Texas censuses of 1920, 1910, or 1900.....not sure why, but I didn't make a rigorous effort. However, Alfred is in the 1880 census of Grayson Co Tx, in the household of William Bynum: William M 46(c1834) pob-Ky Martha M 43(c1837) Ark Thomas M 21(c1859) Ark Oscar M 19(c1861) Ark Willie F 17(c1863) Ark Alfred M 15(c1865) Ark Dora F 10(c1870) Tx Cole M 8(c1872) Tx Ben M 4(c1876) Tx Henry Carter, B-I-L M 38 Ark It appears that the family moved from Ark to Tx, sometime between 1865 and 1870, but I don't find them in the 1870 censuses of either state. There are several William Bynums of about this age in the Ky-Tn-Ark area, so it's fairly hard to define the exact match to this William......however a possible (even probable) match is the Margaret Bynum family in the 1850 census of Drew Co Ark. Margaret C. F 50(c1800) SC Amanda F 22(c1828) Tn Newton J. M 29(c1830) Tn Martha A. F 17(c1833) Ky William W. M 16(c1834) Ky Elizabeth F 10(c1840) Ky I haven't yet found a (earlier) Bynum family in Ky that perfectly matches the characteristcs of this family....but the (apparent) migration pattern matches that of the descendents of Tapley Bynum, who (with his sons & one brother) left Chatham Co NC about 1818 and settled for a few years in Maury Co TN. He and some of his sons then moved into the extreme western part of KY during the late 1820s and early 1830s. I believe this would be a good place for you to concentrate your research. If you can connect to this Tapley Bynum, his ancestry is well defined. He was a 5th generation American Bynum. Notify Administrator about this message?
