I, too have John Lamar Byington as Amos Fox Byington's father. John L. was from South Carolina. I don't know if he was born there or not.

Amos F b. 1793-d.1874 m. Nancy Myrick Freeney. We know Amos F. setteld a Rev. War land claim in GA.

Amos F. son Mirabeau Lamar byington is my gggrandfather.

Any information prior to John L. would be helpful.
