Anne, my Byerly headstone photos are not digital - they were taken Sept. 1998. I am trying to figure out how to scan them and then email them.
The headstone for James C. Byerly - 1840-1918 is next to one for Anna which reads "Anna C. his wife - 1847-1877. They look like they might be spouses. The other Byerly is a double headstone for "BYERLY Sue Hope 1861-1941 and Charles W. 1860-1937".
In a letter received from Union Cemetery - James C. Byerly died July 10, 1919 (his headstone reads 1918}. He was born in Westmoreland County and lived in Irwin. He was a Civil War Veteran. On the headstone it states "Pvt.Co.A 2045 Art.
Charles W. Byerly died August 14, 1937 August 14, 1937 at age 77. He lived in North Irwin.
The secretary of the cemetery sent me a list of 34 Byerlys buried in Union Cemetery.
