The answer to that question is no, although I still have him as a son of Nathan in my database, but I am very skeptical. I think we are going to have to try to find out more about him from the Rutherford Co. records. In the 1830 Rutherford Co census, he is listed one name down from a James Byars who looks like he is probably close to the same age as our Drury. I have thought that Drury may the the grandson of William Byars, brother of Nathan. William Byars (C1747-?) had several sons of whom I know nothing about, namely George, Elisha, David and a James. Could one of these men be the father of Drury? Drury named sons William and James and a younger James was living near him in 1830. Anything that you can add to this speculation will be appreciated.
