No, Nicholas Byars is the son of George Byars of Granville Co. who died 1785, leaving a will. He names wife Mary, Nicholas and Barbary Byars, George Glimph (under age) and Christina Huffman (Hoofman). George and Mary Byars were in Granville Co. as early as 1760, but it has not been determined who George's parents were. It is possible they were among the German immigrants who settled in the Dutch district of Granville. Certainly the Huffmans and Glimphs were German.
