Byars Family Genealogy Forum

I know him. He was President of Bank of Moulton for 40 years, He was my great, great Uncle. Our farm is next to his off the Old Moulton Road between Five Points and Moulton and I can trace my lineage back before the Revolutionary War. I have a summary of all these folks that my aunt Ura McWhorter Byars did before she died, she was married to my grandfather's brother, James W. "Jimbo" Byars. From 11 generations back, there was a famous Nathan Byars. My son, 7, is Nathan Christopher Byars, born Feb. 8, 1993, in Homewood, Alabama right before the great snowstorm of the century, March, 1993. Our family farm was deeded by President Buchanan and my forefathers fought in French & Indian, Revolutionary, Spanish American, Civil, World War II, Korean Wars. I missed Vietnam by two years. Our farm is along the West Flint Creek near Oakville, where Olympian Jesse Owens grew to a teenager before moving to Columbus, Ohio. I can send you the chapters (xeroxed) if you like. We have several Byars around Birmingham. How are you connected ? Did you know there was a Byars, Oklahoma ? One relative shot a man for cheating him, then went straight to Oklahoma and married an Indian woman. My Great Grandmother was Ruth Ayers Johnson Byars. Her mother was full Creek Indian, Lucinda DeVoult of LaGrange, Georgia.
Take Care. Tom Byars, wife Anne, a pediatrician, three children, Bryant Daniel Byars, 9, Chris and Zerah Margaret Byars, 5. We live in Vestavia Hills, Birmingham.
Great to hear from you.
