My information shows William Byars born 1775, died 14 Feb, 1865. He married Elizabeth Beattie and had seven children: 1. Mary Byars b. October 23, 1813 in Pulaski Co. VA. d. May 23, 1892 m. Joseph Cloyd May 23, 1838. See info on these two in The McGavock Family, Author: Robert Gray, Call Number: CS71.M328x 1970. 2. William B. Byars m. Sally Taylor 3. John Byars m. Jane Ryburn 4. Sarah Byars m. Robert L. Walker 5. Elizabeth Byars m. Alexander McEwen 6. Amanda Byars m. John H. Ernest (attorney) 7. James Monroe Byars d. 1897 DeLand, Florida William Byars bought Brooke Hall from his cousin James M. Dysart in 1806. He later built a second Brooke Hall across the road. He was one of 14 children of John Byars who died in 1781 in Louisa County, Virginia. John's wife was Elizabeth Thomas. John's parents were Henry Byars and Peggy Gentry. James Dysart was married to Agnes Nancy Beattie whose Brother David was Elizabeth Beattie's Father. The Byars were already related to the Dysart's and Beattie's in Ireland and Scotland. James Dysart and David Beattie fought in the Battle of King's Mountain in the revolution. Can provide some source information if you like.
