There is a John Buxton buried in the little known Provident Cemetery in Lafayette County Wiconsin. His stats are b. May 19, 1825, d. Apr 19, 1901, single, but don't know if he was always single.

For more information, see the following link.

The cemetery and its now-gone church were just outside the settlement of Jefferson, later Lewisburg. The settlement was just north northeast of Hazel Green, Grant County but the cemetery itself was just over the county line into Lafayette County. There are a lot of folks buried there from the Hazel Green but many from all the surrounding farms and hamlets in both Lafayette and Grant Counties. The cemetery is deteriorating badly: some of the gravestones which were catalogued in a 1978 survey were not found in the 2004 survey.
