Hello, my name is Geary Buxton. There's a possibility I'm related to the Henry Buxton of Derbyshire, England. I trace my ancestors back to Chelmorton, Derbyshire in 1690. However, there must have been several different Buxton families in Derbyshire around that time who were probably all related. Henry Buxton (b. 1792, Derbyshire) would have been the same age as my great-great-great grandfather John O.K. Buxton (b. 1793, New York, USA), son of Charles Buxton (b. 1769, Radbourne, Derbyshire; d. 1795), son of John Buxton (b. 1746, Chelmorton, Derbyshire) son of Thomas Buxton (b. 1733, Chelmorton, Derbyshire), son of Francis Buxton (b. 1690, Chelmorton, Derbyshire). The information I have shows only one son each to Charles (1769) and John (1746), etc, the sons on my family line. I can't help wonder, though, in a age of 7, 8 or more children, if there weren't more younger sons. Just a thought. Unfortunately, like I said, there seems to be many Buxton family lines throughout Derbyshire in the 1700's. There's a gentleman in Yamhill, Oregon, Rodney Buxton, 503-662-4308. (I got permission to put his name and number here. Please feel free to call him. He's very interested in finding his lost relatives.) Rodney is the son of Willis Buxton, son of Philmore Buxton, son of Henry Thurston Buxton, son of Henry Buxton, Jr, son of Henry Buxton, Sr. The town of Buxton, Oregon was named after Henry Thurston Buxton. If you have anymore information about the interconnectedness of the Derbyshire Buxton's, I'd appreciate it. Geary Buxton
