Thanks for posting. I was scouring the internet for more info on John Buxton and came up with a possible lead. It's conjecture on my part, but I found a William Buxton (b. 1750, North Carolina, d. bef 1830 New Hanover, NC), married to Sarah ?, b. about 1788, NC, that could be John's parents (then again, maybe not. I found a Sarah Buxton in the 1830 census, in New Hanover, NC (btwn 40-56 yrs old, listed as head of house), with 1 boy (age btwn 15-20), 2 girls (bwtn 20-30)=20. There is a Sarah Buxton in the 1850 census, (b. 1790 in NC), in Lauderdale, MS and lists Sarah Buxton (60), Mary Nunery (Mary C Strait -? , 57), Benjamin (16), Mary (20). I'm not sure if this hangs together or not. The hard part is weedng out the Buxton family in New England - they seem to be everywhere! I'll let you know if I stumble across anything new. Nice to "meet" you. Mary Traverse City, MI Buxton is my mother's maiden name. Notify Administrator about this message?
