Henry Buxton, Sr. was born 27 Dec 1792 (some records state 1794) in Derbyshire, England. He left England in 1821 for Manitoba, Canada to work for the Hudson's Bay Co. at the Red River Settlement. On 12 Jun 1828 Henry married Frances Thomas, daughter of Thomas Thomas (a principal settler of the RRS) and Cree wife Sarah. Two know children were born to this union: Henry, Jr. b 8 Oct 1829 and a daughter (name not recorded) who did not survive infancy. In 1841, Henry Buxton left Canada to settle a Donation Land Claim in the Oregon Territory. His wife, Frances, was thrown from her horse en route and died from her injuries sometime later in Puget Sound, Washington Territory. Henry settled in Tualitin Plains, Washington Co., Oregon. He remarried in 1843 to the widow of the Rev. Sabel Munger, Sarah E. Munger. They had one daughter, Sarah, who became the wife of Mr. Charles Reynolds and settled in Seattle, Washington. Henry, Jr. married Rosanna Wooley, daughter of Jacob and Eleanor (Rose) Wooley, in 1847. They remained in Washington Co., Oregon, where they raised twelve of their twelve children: Rebecca, Edward, Henry Thurston, James Thomas, Mary Ellen, William Theodore, Charles Elmer (died age 30), Jacob Seagle, Carrie Frances, Nellie May, Ausin Todd, and Rosie Maud who died age 5 months of age.I am looking for anyone with information regarding this family.
