I do believe I looked into his pension records recently and found it has him listed as William Bertram. Family tradition states William fought with George Washington during the Revolutionary War and was at Valley Forge. He was born on either 15 July 1759 or 18 July 1759 I have it from two different sources not sure which one is correct. He was born in Salisbury, Rowan, North Carolina and died 1853 in Sparta, Tennessee. Burial was at Bradley Cemetery in Sparta, near the Calfkill Creek. William Buttram II and Sarah Patterson were married on 29th of January 1780
I don't have birth or death dates for her. Friends in Rowen, North Carolina referred to him as William the Conquerer. I have been recently researching him and will double check my notes i do believe that in them i have some pension informatin but have yet been able to get to the nation archives to research it futher. William II and Sarah Paterson are my 5th great grandparents.
