Hi,
I am a descendant of a Clarissa Button, birth: JAN 1827 in Ohio; Death: 10 MAY 1902 in Kirtland, Lake Co., Ohio.Clarissa had a daughter named Adeline.Adeline had a daughter named Ruby and Ruby was my great-grandmother.
You sent a post-em note, posted on a cousin's genealogy site:
I wonder if Clarissa BUTTON was the daughter of Solon BUTTON and his wife, Clarissa LAWRENCE. Perhaps they named their first baby, Clarissa.
Solon BUTTON married 5 Apr 1827 in Concord, Lake co, OH Sarah LAWRENCE. This notice appeared in the Painesville Telegraph 13 Apr 1827:" Mr. Solon Button married Miss Clarissa Lawarence in Concord on the 5th. They were married by Wm. Holbrook Esq" .
Thank you for sending that information.I have been wondering who Clarissa's parents could have been.
My great-grandmother said that Clarissa was called Clara and lived in Kirtland, Lake County, Ohio. She also told me that the Buttons were "lace-curtain" Irish.Clarissa had a son named Lafayette and it seems logical to me that she probably named him after De Lafayette Button.Apparently,
De Lafayette was born on December 22, 1825, (he had a twin, De Witt) two years after Clarissa was born. Was he her father Solon's younger brother?
I would appreciate any information you could send about the Button family.
Thanks again.
