Obits for two daughters of Elijah and Mary Ann BUTTON.

The Painesville Telegraph, May 24, 1940: "ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. MARY HAYDEN of Thompson, May 24-Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Hayden, 89, wife of Lyman Austin Hayden, and a native of Painesville, died at her home here, where she had resided for the past year, at 9 a.m. Thursday. She had been suffering with a heart ailment for some time.Mrs. Hayden was one of eight children in the family of Elijah and Mary Ann Button of Painesville, and was born Feb. 14, 1851, in that city. As a young woman she became a member of the Mentor Church of Christ.On May 30, 1881, she was married
to L.A.Hayden, and with her husband she moved to a home in Chardon Township where she was widely known as a good friend and a neighbor who always was willing to help
others when assistance was needed.One of two sons born to Mr. and Mrs. Hayden, Ai Hayden died June 14, 1938. Surviving with her husband are: a son, M.D.Hayden;
a son by a former marriage, Fred Nye of California; three grandchildren, Austin D.Hayden, Philip Hayden of York, PA, and Stanley Nye of Stockton Cal. One greatgrandchild,
Douglass Nye, and a sister, Mrs. Ella Whiting of Painesville, also survive her. Two other sons by a former marriage, Edward Nye and Ralph Nye, also preceded her in death.Services will be conducted Saturday at the Burr and Smith Funeral home in Chardon by the Rev. H.F.Miller. Painesville Telegraph 7 Jun 1948 Pg 2: "WHITING, MRS. ELLA (BUTTON) WIDOW OF WILLIAM, DIED 6/6/1948 AT AGE 94.Death takes Mrs. Ella WHITING, 94: Mrs. Ella WHITING, a lifelong resident of Painesville, died early Sunday morning at her home on Headlands Rd. Mrs. WHITING, born June 4, 1854, on Button Rd., Painesville township, was the last of the large BUTTON family and was well known for the operation of several restaurants many years ago with her late son, Forrest WHITING. She was a charter member of the Daughters of America Lodge, and for many years lived at 39 S. St. Clair St. Surviving Mrs. WHITING are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Blanche WHITING, a grandson, William WHITING, and a nephew, M. D. HAYDEN of Chardon. Her husband, William, preceded her in death in 1929. Her son, Forrest, died in 1943 and a daughter was taken in death in childhood. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh B. Ferguson, pastor of the Concord Church officiating. Burial will be in the Mentor Cemetery".----end-----
