My great-great-great-grandmother was Jemima Button (b. ca 1779 d. 1856) who married Rudy Hendix (b. ca 1768 d. 1838). The spelling of Jemima is uncertain. In 1810, Rudy Hendrix was living with his wife in Henry (Oldham) Co. KY, four houses away from William Button (b. betw. 1765-1775); in 1820 they are living in Henry (Oldham) Co. KY, seven houses away from William Button, and next to William is John Button (b. betw. 1775 and 1793). These would seem to be William (1773-1856?) and John (b. 1781), the sons of Harman Button (1753-1822), and Jemima(?) would most likely have been the sister of William and John. But the list of Harman's children available to me includes no Jemima, though it does include a lost sister "Elizabeth" -- who was disinherited, according to family legend. Is anyone doing Button family research who can help me out here.
[Note: The German family names in this Button line, the presence of German or Germain as a (male) name in the Button family in the XIXth c., and the coincidental presence of Germina Bruton in another (AL) branch of the Hendrix family makes me wonder whether this VA/KY Jemima Button is really Germina. The only Jemima Button I've found anywhere other than our family records is in the Stonington CT family.]
