Button families of America says, Sarah Button born July 4 1840; died May 21, 1924. She married Mar 3 1855 John Cowan, born Oct 18 1830; died June 23, 1912, Buried at Sylvania, PA. They owned a store and meat market of Blossburg, and later had one at Sylvania.
Children
1 James R. Cowen, born Sept 28, 1858; died Aug 30, 1940. He married Sept 6, 1883 Mary Green of Arfordville, Wisc, daughter of Seth T. Green. James lived most of his life on a farm near Gillette, PA; is buried at Sylvania.
Children; Vera Cowan, died very young.

Harriet Cowan had two children
James Russell Cowan had four sons
John Cowan had five boys and one girl
Judd L Cowan had a large family
Eleazer Pomroy (called Lee)
2 Edgar born Oct 12, 1860 had family
3 William or Willard Born Feb 1867 buried at Sylvania.
4 Lasure Cowan; went west.
