Janice, since posting the original info some things have been cleared up. This is the Butter(s) info I have to date: Elizabeth HODGE b abt. 1789 in England married Thomas BUTTERs b abt 1772 in England. They had three daughters: EMMA BUTTERS(b abt, AMELIA BUTTERS, and ELIZABETH "ELIZA" BUTTERS. 1. EMMA BUTTERS (b abt 1826 in England)was married three times. 1st marriage to Unknown MCGROTTY m. bef 1843 in St John N.B. One known child - EMMA MCGROTTY b abt 1843. 2nd marriage to ELISHA SIBLEY m betw 1851 and 1888 in St John N.B. No Known Children. 3rd marriage to WILLIAM MAGEE (Canadian) m June 20, 1888 at her nephews ( FREDERICK PHILLIP HUE) home in WARREN, PA. USA. No known children. 2. AMELIA BUTTERs b abt 1828 England, d Nov 22, 1863 at Sea, m to PHILLIP HUE in St John N.B. Four Children Amelia ( died at birth), Stannus Edward HUE, Frederick Phillip HUE, JOhn Millington HUE. 3. ELIZABETH "ELIZA" BUTTERS b abt 1824 in ENGLAND, d.Sept 4, 1863 in St John N.B. Eliza was married twice. 1st marriage to Unknown KIDD m bef 1850 in St John, N.B. They had once known child LEWIS KIDD b abt 1850. 2nd marriage to Unknown TURNBULL in St JOhn N.B. No known children. Thomas Butters was a Master mariner of a ship. After the girls were born in England they moved to St JOhn N.B. This was apparently a "shipping oriented" family as some of the marriages were to Captains, etc. Also the Hues both died when their kids were young and the oldest...Stannus.. was involved with shipping along the GASPE coast ( possibley fishing industry). BETSY BUTTER ( note the s was dropped on an official certificate) was listed as the owner of "43 Upper Warwick St, Toxeth Park, Lancaster County England in Sept 1860 on her grandchilds birth certificate. Hope this ties into your Butters family somewhere. Please let me know. Mike FOGCLAN@AOL.COM
