I am looking for information on Nathaniel Gibbs Butterfield. He had several children in the Turk/Caicos Islands in the 1850's: William N. born 1853, Samuel,and Edgar Benjamin born about 1857. He may have had others. He was in shipping and is listed as a salt merchant on some land dealings and morgages for several hundred pounds in the Turk and Caicos Islands in the Carribean.
One death certificate said Nathaniel Gibbs was born in Connecticut but that might be the Connecticut Valley in Massachusetts. The family story says that the family owned several ships and that Nathaniel Gibbs Butterfield died at sea, orphaning his children.
