One of my ancestors is Nathan Pratt 2nd (1781-1858 of Rutland, Vermont. He seems to have had as many as four wives. One of the later wives was reported in the marriage certificates of some of her children to be Betsey Butterfield (1790-1864). No marriage license has been located to directly confirm a marriage of Nathan Pratt to Betsey Butterfield. Known children of Nathan and Betsey Pratt are Lucy M. Pratt, Sophia A. Pratt, Mary Pratt, Henry W. Pratt, William W. Pratt, Emily Augusta Pratt, George Pratt and Nancy M. Pratt.
Betsey Pratt's death certificate indicates her parents as Nathan and M.C. (Hamilton) Moore, leading me to wonder if she had previously been married to a Butterfield and been widowed. I have checked a lot of records in the Rutland area without solving this problem. Does anyone have any information on her that would clarify her ancestry?
