I descend from John Butt who was one of the four boys raised by "Uncle Richard".Have had many conversations with Dennis Butt about the Father of the four boys and whether there is a possiblity that Basil may not actually have been a full brother.Today, I decided to take a really close look at Robert Green's informtation in THE GREEN TREE and see if I could find any more than we have seen to date.I followed Sarah Green Butt back, using the index listings for her.Richard Butt who married Sarah Green was the son of Samuel.Says so on page 61.Children of Richard and Sarah Green Butt were (listed on page 92) Ruth, Susanna, Dinah Darke and Mary. There is a Mary Anne (Polly) b. 1772 d. May 23, 1849 and Isaac listed on page 128.Then, Richard,Jr. (I feel that this should be the Richard who marriedMary ? and raised the boys) and Archibald.Robert said that there were eight children and, expecting that Mary and Mary Anne are the same, we now have seven.Long ago when I first began to do this research, I found something saying the Father was Barthlemew Butt. Not realizing that I needed the documentation, I just wrote it down. When Robert saw my chart, he got very excited and asked for documentation, which I could not give him. I have found that there was a Barthlemew Butt who recieved land from William Penn. I am currently on a hunt for the documentation which showed Barthlemew as the Father. If I remember correctly (and this was years ago) there were only three boys mentioned and there was no Mother given. So, wish me luck as I go "looking for gold" and let's hope I can find the documentation and end the wondering over who the Father was and how this family plays in.
