This is very interesting indeed!
I never thought to check War of 1812 records based on his age in the 1830 (30-40) which puts his birth year between 1790 and 1800, and me thinking it was closer to 1800 since on the 1850 and 1860 census in Texas, his age would indicate he was born between 1802-1807.
For him to have been in those wars, and at the latest only served in New Orleans in Jan. 1814, this would mean he would have been born in the early to mid 1790's.
I have no reason to believe he is a Junior or that there is another Pleasant H. Butler.Although Butler is pretty common, the name Pleasant H. is pretty unique in conjunction with Butler.
From the book "Tn. before 1800; Washington County"
the names Elisha Butler, John, & Joseph appear on record, and of course we know from history books that Col. Thomas was there in the mid 1790's.Other names I find in East TN prior to 1820 are Jesse, William, Hampton, & George W. Butler, the ladder of which coincidently is the name of Pleasant's only son.I don't know for sure what the "W" stands for on my 3rd great uncle, but am told it is "Waddy."I have found no reason why, but do know the mothers surname "Witter."The George W. Butler mentioned above is "washington" from what I gather from a few who research him.
I guess I'll have to do what I did with another line, and run down each and every Butler in East TN, prior to 1820 and build a portfolio on each!
anyway - thanks, and keep me in mind if you run across anything Jean.
