Hi Sharon,
Its been a while since we communicated. I'm still stumped on the Duff's but am following a lead that Sir William Duff had a brother who accompanied him to VA.
I just received a letter from Janet Cook of Texas who's just starting genealogy. Her mother had done some research and had traced their family to Addison Butler and Lucy Ann Duff of Bolling Green KY as possible parents of Martha Frances Butler, b. c 1845 and d. 8 Nov 1896 Bolling Green. Martha m. Andrew Jackson Wolverton 12 June 1868, Gallatin TN.
I have Fielding Duff with a daughter Lucy Ann. I have a marriage for Lucy Ann Duff and Adison Butler 16 Nov 1840, Warren County, KY and

I've noticed that you've found your Butler family and traced it to Culpeper Co. (It seems that all roads start in Culpeper!) I know that at least two Butler brothers came to Barren Co and wonder if you've come across anything on Addison Butler.
Janet Cookisn't on the internet so we're relying on snail mail. Any leads you could give would be appreciated. Hope all is well with you.
