A great idea, Ed!
Here's my line of Butlers: Michael Butler born February 1830, baptized at Powerstown church, just outside Clonmel, Tipperary.Michael was one of 4 known sons of Patrick Butler and Mary McGrath. The other sons were John born 1826, another Michael born 1828 who probably died early, and Patrick born 1835.
Michael hasn't been definitely found in the ships' records yet, though he could be the one found on a ship named the Fitz James (or possibly the St. James) in 1854, arriving in New Orleans; this Michael was about the right age.But he was settled in St. Louis, Missouri, by November 1858 when he married. He and his family moved out of the city, and bought some land and farmed in the west part of the county.Michael died in 1905.
