SUE FORESTER 1/06/02
Sue,
Here is what I know about my family in Walker Co.In 1858, James M. Butler was granted 80 acres of land that seems to include the intersection of Crawford Creek and Beech Grove Road, near Carbon Hill.I am locating this by map and am not familar with Walker Co.In 1860, James M. Butler and his wife Amanda sold 160 acres to Noah Parris.Noah and Mary Ann Parris sold this land to J. N. Boshell in 1882.
In the 1860 census in Walker Co. Western Division,
James Butler, age 47
Manda, age 31
Marthy E., age 16
James M., age 12
Sarah E., age 11
Peter C., age 9
Georgeann, age 8
William, age 6
Christopher, age 5
Austin, age 3
Patric, age 3
James and Amanda along with Georgeann, William, Christopher, Austin and Patric show up in Decatur Co. TN in 1876.Other children were born in Tuscumbia, AL in 1862 so I assume they moved from Walker Co. after 1860.I have descendants, date and place of death for all of these people.
This leaves Marthy E., age 16; James M., age 12; Sarah E., age 11; Peter C., age 9 that I don't know anything about them after 1860.I don't know if they stayed in Walker Co. or moved to Tuscumbia.I don't have any information about Cordova or marrying a Clark.I have never found any information about Walker Co. other than what I have found in official records.
What is your connection to Butler's in Walker Co.?My email address is [email protected] if you would like to contact me directly.
