Frederick William Butler m Gasgoigne; Banbury ENG
We recently learned that the parents of my deceased sister-in-law were Frederick William BUTLER and Frances Nellie nee GASCOIGNE. Their marriage certificate shows they married in the Banbury parish church in Oxford on 17 Jun 1912.Frederick was the 28-year-old son of John GASCOIGNE [a deceased tailor] and a postman living at 17 Compton Street, Banbury. The Edward James BUTLER who witnessed the marriage was possibly a relation, perhaps his brother or an uncle?
During WWII Frederick was a postal telegraphist Sapper with the Royal Engineers and living at 32 Park Street, Fenny Stratford.I understand this was a civilian position, rather than a military one.
My niece [Frederick and Nellie's grandaughter] would dearly love to find out more about her mother's family after an unfortunate start. With Butler and Gascoigne being such common names, some suggestions or information as to where to start would be very much appreciated.
