Hi Patty,
Sorry for the delay in answering.
There is a Butler DNA Project at FamilyTree DNA.
Someone has submitted a DNA sample for Bailey Clifton Butler. But as far as I can tell he is not a close enough match to any of the others in his group to be of any great help to us.
My ancestor is George T. Butler. He was either a brother or cousin of Bailey. He was very close to Price Butler, as he gave Price Power of Attorney so he could collect his War of 1812 service pay for him. George also named a son Thomas Price Butler and his youngest son George Washington Hampton Butler, of which there is a short biography on him in the book 'History of Southeast Missouri'. George T. Butler moved his family from Jackson Co., Tennessee to Wayne Co., Missouri along with James Kirkpatrick and his family shortly after the 1830 census was taken and 1833 when he died. George's 2nd wife was Nancy Kennel and James Kirkpatrick's wife was Mary Kennel. I assume they were sisters. There is a place located in Clay Co., Tennessee, which was Jackson County, off the Dry Fork of Mill Creek where George T. Butler's land grant was, named Kennel Hollow, close to Butlers Landing. There is a Steele Hollow in that same vicenity. James Kirkpatrick's mother's maiden name was Steele. However, for the life of me, I can not find any evidence that there was a Family in that area that was named Kennel, except, of course, the name of George's wife and James Kirkpatrick's wife.
Any way, check out the FamilyTree DNA site.
I wish I could find a male descendant of George T. Butler that would submit his DNA, to see how him and Bailey matched up.
