Charles Paxton Butler, 1765-1858, portrait 1794-96, Charleston, SC
The January 2007 issue of ANTIQUES magazine on p. 179 pictures a portrait of Charles Paxton Butler (1765-1858)dated 1794-96 in Charleston, SC.The portrait is in the collection of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts in Winston-Salem, NC.
This fine portrait should be made known to the Butlerfamilies. I am scanning it in case any of his descendants might like a copy, either by email or by postal mail. Someone in the Butler family ought to have it--it is too good to be missed by the family. It may not have extensive genealogy value, but it certainly does have a whole lot of family and historic value.

If it were a portrait of a Pease gentleman, I'd certainly want someone to do the same for me.
