Roberts (plural) of Bertie > Johnston > Duplin/Sampson
An aunt passed on to me, many years ago, a worksheet of the prolific (though sometimes mistaken) researcher Allen Pendergraft.
IN BETWEEN Robert of Bertie (c 1705) and Robert who died in 1802, he shows another Robert, the father of: Mary (m to Shaderack Runnels/Reynolds 12-1-1779); Lucy (m to Edward Brown, 6-12-1780); and the Robert who first married Margaret Travers/Travis and later Delilah Royal Rhodes.
The Heritage of Sampson County book (Bizzell ed) lists only the 1st and 3rd Robert, without another intervening. And yet, when you look at the century that spans from the birth of the 1st in 1705-ish and the latter, dying in 1802, it does beg the question: was there another and do any of you know about that intervening couple? Who did he marry, etc?
Also, can someome please clarify for me how many Robert ASA Butlers there were? I believe the original (c 1705, Bertie) was not a Robert Asa. Does anyone know the straight scoop on the names?
All for now; best wishes to all,
Elaine K
