John Butler b. 1827 Butler's Island, Georgia (Glynn County)
wife: Betty (Betsy) Butler b. 1831 Butler's Island
children: Kate b. 1853 Butler's Island
Violet b. 1858 Butler's Island
John b. 1861 Caddo Parrish, Louisiana
Abraham b. 1865 Caddo Parrish, Louisiana
James b. 1868 Caddo Parrish, Louisiana
Caroline (adopted niece) b. 1873 South Carolina

John, Betsy, Kate, and Violet were sold from Butler's Island (owned by Pierce Butler) at the Great Auction in Savannah, Georgia on March 2 & 3, 1859. (Known as "The Weeping Time").
