I think we've corresponded before but my searching keeps coming back to here.
I have found that my great-great grandfather (James Bute) came from Scotland - Edinburgh. I have his birth date as Sept 3 1844 but this could be incorrect. He came to Canada when he was 18 on his uncle's ship. The uncle later died at sea. He then made his way to Houston Texas and founded the James Bute Paint Company 1867. Here he married Sarah Ann House.
Hermoine Legg has Haldane a relative that came to work for James Bute Paint Company and is somehow tied into our family.
