I was born Robert Lloyd Butcher (adopted name Russell). My dad was killed in an industrial accident when I was one-year-old. The furtherest back I have been able to trace our Butcher line was to Henry Latham (Laitham?) Butcher I, who was born in 1821 and was married to M. Emma [Butcher]. The marriage was believed to have been at Pulborough,Sussex, England.
Do you have any information which tie in to this couple. Their only child, to my knowledge was Henry Latham Butcher II born on 8 Novemeber 1848 in West Moors, Dorset, England (d. 12 February 1894). It is
beleived that was a farmer in West Moors. He married an Emily Scutt in Pulborough and they had 10 children including my grandfather Frank Butcher who was born in Ditchling, Sussex, England on February 23, 1877. (All 10 children were given 5-letter first names - Mabel, Harry, Frank, Claud, Hilda, Elsie, Maude, Ethel, Clare, and Norah.)
