I found what I needed on Homer Butcher. Thanks for the e-mail and help. I now have documented a straight line of descendents from me all the way back to Adam Butcher (Pike Co. Ohio and VA before that). Has anyone ever figured out what Adam's last name was when he was a Hessian Soldier from Hesse-Kassel, Prussia? I know many have assumed it was Metzger, but sometimes the soldiers changed their names rather than just converting to the english pronounciation. I would "assume" that maybe Adam told his family of his German last name and that it was possibly passed up through the generations??
