Judith,

Greetings;

One must be careful when asking are we related doing this kind of family research about the time I would say yes documents would surface showing new information that may change ones views on a particular familiy structure. I operate on validation I must have to validate information before coming to a positive anwser. A great many people do geneology for fun or away of passing time. To me and writing the books on the Butcher lines this is the way of helping others remember those family members who have gone ahead. Enough of the serious talk,,, It took me awhile to dig through my records to research your question, Theres was a Samuel Butcher born around 1746 plus or minus several years in Virginia as far as I can tell his ancesters were from New Jersy area and England however your husbands line and my families do seem to intersect in Botetourt County Virginia.

Your husbands line comes from William Butcher who moved and later died in Pittsylvania County Virginia, My faamily line from Samuel Butcher Jr. may have been the older or perhaps even the younger brother to William I am just now starting to work on our family lines because in the first book I concetrated on the German Butcher lines first which seem to again intersect the English lines around 1077 and 1500. However both Butcher lines I mentioned were in Botetourt county Virginia at the same time even marrying within the family structure they have the very same migration patterns Kentucky, Tennessee Illinois Indiana Missouri and other points west. I am currently occupied working on the Butcher family chronicals although thay wiill not called that however if you are interested about sharing information or if you have information you might want to be published in one of my books I am truly interested. We have top remember that the Butcher name can have several different spellings even with in the same family i.e. Boucher Boutcher Booker Bucher Butcher Butchers Butchere these are just some of the different spellings that I have came across, remember these spelling came brother spelling the name differently or even fathers and son , a great many of our early ancestors could not read or write .

Look Forward to hearing from you.
sincerely
James R Butcher
Yes we may be ditant cousins.
