Phyllis T. (Butcher) Vasher Obit
ALLEN, Texas — Phyllis T. Vasher, age 90, formerly of Sand Creek, Mich., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at the Victoria Garden Nursing Home in Allen, Texas.
Phyllis was born in January of 1918 in South Lyon, Mich., to the late Abram and Thelma (Bond) Butcher. Phyllis married Harley J. Vasher on Nov. 6, 1937, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Ann Arbor, Mich. She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Lyons, Ohio, and member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the State Line Extension Club. Phyllis sold Avon, made wedding cakes and owned and operated Vasher’s Dar-i-ette in Morenci, Mich. She was an excellent cook and baker. Her family meant everything to her and was the most important part of her life.
Phyllis was the widow of Harley Vasher, who passed away on Feb. 9, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Butcher.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Beverly (Edwin) Pifer of Blissfield, Timothy (Shari) Vasher of Dallas, Texas, Jeannette (Richard) Schumacher of Ottawa Lake, Kathleen (Terry) Bussing of Plano, Texas, Daniel Vasher of Morenci and Mary (Roger) Furgason of Britton; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters, Horace “Butch” (Dee) Butcher, Helen (Joel) Vasher, Charles Butcher, John Butcher, Jane Leslie, Joanne (Hossien) Hayati, Alice (Henry) McCarbery, Edward (Bernice) Butcher, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may visit Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home, 413 E. Main St. in Metamora, Ohio (419-644-3601), where a Scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Prayers will begin in the funeral home Thursday morning, Feb. 21, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Assumption. Fr. Frederick Snyder and Fr. Dennis Metzger will officiate. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery.
