Re: To All Buster/Bustard Researchers
Rosemary,
Yes, I have been on this page since its beginning, but I have not posted anything.I am a lurker, so to say, searching for specific info plus I try to stick to my direct line, and am in no way, shape or form an "expert" on the many branches.
Yes, I have read your post about you receiving a ship passenger list from the George and Ann.Would this be a 1727 or a 1729 ship passenger list? Also, is it a diary from one of the passengers or a real actual manifest?I know they were not listed in this diary of the 1729 voyage. At least not by the man who wrote about it. Since he and most of his family that were with him settled in their own little area, (which was not Virgina) I doubt that he was in any way connected to any Bustard on board, and therefore did not mention them. But, he was related and connected with the Beattie family which is very interesting to me since my husband's ancestors married into this family. And that seems to be the only "list" so to say, floating around. If you do have an actual manifest, I would love to know where you got it, because I have not been able to find anyone that has one.And believe me, a lot of people are looking for it.(Other than the diary I was talking about.)
I am still searching for answers and I try to connect my Buster men to families that they married into. While there is no proof that William ever married a Wallace..there is no proof that he did not.I am searching for the origin of that "rumour" which I am sure was not you, because I have never seen your tree or your papers or anything that you have published. So I can't say that you are the one who started that particular rumour.
My research goes back 23 years, and I have looked at many a book, file, fiche, and journal. The Wallace name is very connected with the Wood/s name, which is very connected with the Buster name, and therefore, I have tried to prove or disprove it that way. Many people still believe that the Buster family was associated with these two families. And it has been proven time and time again that families stuck together like glue when they arrived in a new area, going so far as to intermarry to keep from having to mingle with unknown families.
I agree with another researcher that William did not arrive on the George and Ann, but until I see the 1727 ship passenger list, I will not say one way or another.(I am leaning towards the earlier mention of around 1701)
I also agree that William could have been married to anyone, but since I would like to know who (after all, she put a little effort into everyone's genes), I will keep on searching for the truth.Thank you for your answer, and I hope that you too are searching for the answers to these questions that will help us go back one more generation from our William. I don't know where he came from, and I don't know where the earliest Buster researchers got some of their information, but I am trying my best to find out.
My original query was sent in the hopes that someone else out there was looking into these rumours so I am happy to hear from anyone. But these are die-hard ancient rumours, and they need to be disproven by documents that one can believe in.The George and Ann rumour has held steadfastly for at least 32 years, and I will find the journal that it is "supposed"to be written in.I wish I had known some of these earlier researchers, because I think they got everything going for us. And they have helped me, at least, to narrow my search down to specific time frames, regions, and history. Please let me know where you got the actual manifest because there are some people on the The Ships List who would be thrilled to get their hands on a copy.
