I am somewhat interested in this family as I have an ancestor who is believed to be a Bussey by birth. My Susan (BUSSEY??) Patterson (b c 1816) is in the census records in Pulaski County as married to E. H. PATTERSON. In later years there was a reference to her maiden name in the death records of her daughter. Also family stories about her son Frank M. PATTERSON, that he was shot by his cousin in Waurika OK in 1902 who was a Mr. LACY. In the 1860 census for Sebastian County Susan PATTERSON was head of household and two young children were living with her and her family: Susan LACY age 4 and Fanny LACY age 2.
Could your BUSSEY family have a sister Susan who was born about 1816
