Joe,
Have you ever checked out the Government Land Records that are online at http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/ ? I have found alot of Bussey's from Al., La., Mo., a ton of them for Arkansas, 1 from Fl. Unfortunately Texas isn't available.
Listed for Al. I have the following names that are going to be located in the Butler Co. area the St. Stephen's Meridian.
Edward Moody Bussey (3 times) 5/15/1837,
Hezekiah Bussey (2 times) 7/10/1839,
Zadoc Bussey (2 times) 5/15/1837,
Harmon S. Bussey (once) 7/1/1845,
Friday while at the courthouse in Butler Co., I made a copy of a marriage license of Dempsey Bussy to Miss Mary Lockhart on Feb. 28, 1866, license issued on Feb. 19, 1866.

For the Montgomery Meridian (Central Alabama)
Charles (2) 10/10/1840
Benjamin P (3)7/1/1845
Thomas(1) 6/1/1849
Samuel(1) 6/15/1854
Wade (1)3/14/1858
Hezekiah (3) 3/1/1858

One other is for Charles of Tallapoosa District dated 10/7/1839 and states Indian Allotment.

MS 2nd Principal Meridian LaPorte has a Hezekiah 3/15/1837 getting a rather huge amount of acreage.

LA has Harvey and John R. Bussey.

Hope this might be of some help. If I can help with any census records from here let me know. I live just a few minutes from the Research Library here in Birmingham, Al. and am also working on the Bussey's.
Deborah
