Joyce,

I would be interested in finding out more about John Johnson wed to Mary Polly Buskirk...LDS records show him born 7 Aug 1777 Pa; died 11 Apr 1834 Putnam County, Il. and Mary Buskirk born 1796 in Ky; d 2 Jun 1892 Jackson Twp, Putnam Colunty, In. It shows children to be Isaac 1817 <Monroe Co., In>; Michael 1819; Elizabeth 1823; David Johnson 8 Mar 1828 Maysville, Jackson (says Mo--think In.)
(who may have been the lst white child born in New Maysvile, Indiana) and Sarah Ann Johnson b 24 Mar 1821, Monroe Co., In; d 15 May 1909 Marion Twp., Putnam County, In and buried New Maysville, In.

I am looking for our John Johnson who died about 1832, son of John? and of Mrs. Susannah Johnson (who later wed Mr. Elias Newkirk) after 1795. Family orignally from Md, then maybe to Pa, to Clark County and Montgomery county, Ky and family members later to Indiana and Illinois. Because Putnam county, In. was a location of many of our connected familys such as Combs/ Yeates/ , I am interested in your John Johnson as well as James, and David.

In the Old Maysville Cemetery -- listed are John Johnson Aug 7, 1777 - Apr 11, 1831.(I don't know if this is a typo or not) Also listed are Elizabeth F. Johnson, Consort of J. B. Johnson (she died Jan 5, 1851 24 yr, 3 m 29 d; John W. s/o B. & E. Sept 13, 1851 1 yr 2 mo 28d and Minerva P. w/o Isaac July 8, 1856 27 y 7 m 22d.

In the commentary for the New Maysville Cem., Jackson township, Putnam County, Indiana--it says John Johnson's grave-- near the east end of the old part--who died April 11, 1834 is one of earlier setters arriving 1827. Also states that David Johnson, son of John Johnson born on Section 34, March 8, 1828 was first white child born in the township.

Mr. Wilson with whom I have e-mailed has referred to a will of "John Johnson" who died in Putnam County, In. leaving a will and probate records dated Mar 1840. There seems to be some kind of connection to AMASA Johnson. ( I have not seen these but wonder if it could be the John Johnson wed to Mary Buskirk.

Any information you might have would be appreciated.

Sharon
