I had found that Barney's wife Adeline did have the surname Eliot on an 1880 census. I also know that Adeline's mother was Lucinda Eliot, I don't have a maiden name, born about 1798 in Vermont and her father was born in Massachusetts died sometime after 1870 (from 1870 census).
