In Reply to: a BUSH book by John Bush of 8373

John,

The correct title of this book is THE BUSH FAMILY AS DESCENDED FROM RICHARD AND ELIZABETH BEBY BUSH OF VIRGINIA.
It was compiled by Mary Smith Black and edited by Elizabeth Willis DeHuff. It is a 60 page self-published typed manuscript published in 1968 in Augusta, Georgia.

The South Caroliniana Library at the University of South Carolina has a copy and you can order a photocopy from them.
Contact Ms. Robin Copp at rcopp@gwm.sc.edu

This book has numerous errors in it. However, if you order a photocopy from the South Caroliniana Library they will send you a copy of the ADDITIONS AND ERRATA section which was evidently added after the original manuscript was prepared. It corrects some, but not all, of the errors. The book also includes numerous "assumptions" and "possibilities", but the author usually states that they are assumptions or possibilities. Some people have taken some of these assumptions and possibilities and some of the errors and treated them as factual information in their family histories and family trees published on the internet. So one should beware when this book is shown as a source or reference.
