Hi Linda,
I'll try to answer your question the best I can without speculating too much.Let me start by telling you that it has taken me over two years to identify and pin down even my great-grandfather's identity via death certificates and divorce proceedings.I am now certain that my g-grandfather is Charles W. Bush son of Jacob and Sarah Morris Bush (m. 1826 in Rockbridge County, Va. To get even that far, I had to make considered guesses and then go check them out. At this point I have two pretty good reasons for thinking that Jacob's father is Nathan Bush. First, they both showed up together late in Greenup County in time for the 1840 census. Second, Jacob temporarily moved in with Nathan at the time of the 1850 census while his divorce was in process. That divorce caused me no end of problems until a nice lady I hired found it.
Nathan is one of the brother's of Aaron Bush.Aaron migrated to Greenup along with some of his brothers George, Joseph, John (Jr.),and Jeremiah just before 1820. The father of these brothers appears to be John (Sr.) who arrived with them. In the 1830 census, he appears to be living in the Aaron Bush household and is 70-80 years old. That places his birth between 1750 and 1760. He apparently died before 1840.
John (Jr), Nathan, and Joseph were married in Monroe County, Va, between 1803 and 1808. Two older brothers Aaron and George were married in Rockingham County in the same time period. The oldest brother, Edmund, was married in Orange County in 1798. Edmund was in Rockingham by 1810 and still there for the 1820 census.
Nathan took an indirect route to Greenup County. I can place him in Botetourt in 1820, Alleghany in 1830 and finally Greenup by 1840.
The recent postings among you, Carol and Georgi certainly give me pause to reflect that George Bush of Stafford County's son John is certainly the right age for my ggg-grandfather. Right now that is great speculation on my part. And, I also think it's very interesting that you and I neither fall within the fairly well documented Abraham Bush lines but appear to belong.
Good luck to you and I hope this sparks something for you. We could certainly use some luck in our searching.
Andy
