Carol, I've checked the books you suggested on Stafford Co. by Vogt and Kethley- unfortunately - there are NO Bush listings. From 1723 through 1790 there are various Quit Rent Rolls, Tobacco Tenders Lists and Personal Property Tax Lists. The books give a good sampling of who owned land in Stafford Co during that period. This is obviously not conclusive as it is not all inclusive of Stafford Co records that existed. It does however, leave George Bush (and Charity Bush Cash) as elusive as ever!
Peter Cash, Charity's spouse IS NOT found in the above Stafford Co. records and he is said to have died there. He left a Will in Stafford Co. in 1760. Peter's father, William Cash left a Will in Westmoreland Co.in 1708. Parts of Stafford were formed from Westmoreland. So your suggestion about Westmoreland records is a good idea. Robert Howson of Stafford Co owned land that was formerly in Westmoreland Co.
The boundary between Stafford and King George County went through several changes back and forth in early 1700. From what I have read, both counties should be researched for anyone thought to be in Stafford Co. We know that while the earliest recordings for George Bush appear in the St. Paul's Parish Register, later recordings are found in the Overwharton Parish Register which covered both Stafford and King George Counties.
George Bush's Inventory of Estate was filed in Stafford Co. I have found no records for him in King George Co. as such. There is mention of an Abraham Bush in King George Will Book A-1(Bond Book 2:5) in 1733. He was security for Wm. Alsup as the Executor of Margaret Boyle's Estate. This does mean that Abraham was living in King George County.
We also know that George leased land from Wm. Brent in Stafford Co between1746-1750 (as did Peter Cash). A THomas Bush was leasing land in Stafford Co in 1708. John and Margaret Bush had owned land in Stafford Co. which they sold to John Todd in 1715.But no definite connection has been shown between this John and George or Abraham (although possible).
Prince William County is another good place to look further for GB. MANY names found in Stafford Co are later in Prince William records.
The Estate of Charles Broadwater pays tobacco to a Thomas Bush in 1736 as the result of a judgement. Thomas Bush, George Calvert and John Bryan witness the Will of John Walker there in 1736. John Bush, Benj. Rush are security for Thomas Duncom as Adm. of the Estate of John Duncum,. dec'd in 1740. And John and Ann Bush sell to Wm. King of Stafford Co land in Prince William Co in 1745.
From the books on Stafford Co named above there the following names of interest:
