Hi, Linda,
Thanks for your message.I'm sorry that I don't know why there was the land swap in 1810.Here are a few things that I've run across that connect the Bushes and Joneses:
In the 1820 Caldwell Co., KY census on p. 34, William Jones appears with Wm. Bush and John Bush on the same page, as does Groves Howard. This William Jones and his wife Sarah Standard (Standrod/Stanrod) had died by 1830 so that Terry King, who married William and Sarah Jones' daughter Matilda Ingram, seems to be showing up in the same area of Caldwell Co. by the time of the 1830 census. On the same page of the 1830 census is May (Mary?)Bush and Groves Howard.I can send you the ages of the people in these households, if you like, or other details.
I don't have access to the Bushes left in Caldwell/Lyon Co. in 1840 or 1850, but when Terry King appears in the 1860 census of Washington Co., TX on p. 206, Thomas Bush (age 45, Christian Minister, b. KY) and Mary Bush (age 5, b. TX) are listed in his household.By this time, Terry's son Porter had married Eudora Bush.
The family of William Alfred and Sarah Standard Jones kept a Bible.I haven't seen it, but descendants have shared the information with me.It says that William and Sarah married January 22,1801 in Caswell Co., NC.By July of 1803, they had moved to Galatin, Sumner Co., TN because their second son was born there. By September of 1808, they were in Princeton, Caldwell Co., KY because Matilda was born there.
I've been trying to track the Bushes and Joneses so that I can find the parents of Terry King. The Kings in Pittsylvania Co., VA seem like a good place to search because it's close to Sumner, and there was another Terry King there.Since I wrote that last message, I've discovered that the Stafford Co., VA Kings not only followed the migration pattern of my family, but their descendants seem to have followed the migration pattern of every family in every state in the entire South because there were so many of them.Needless to say, I haven't found my King ancestors. The only marriage that I'm aware of so far that ties Groves Howard to these people is the one between Mary King and Groves's son Logan.I've spent a lot of time uncovering in-laws of in-laws!I'm sorry if this isn't much help to you, but I'm still curious about the whole thing.
Thanks for your interest, Kathy
